The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club is the newest harness racing club in New Zealand. The club was formed on 01 December 1998 from the merger of the Canterbury Park, New Brighton and 'old' New Zealand Metropolitan clubs. The club races 42 times a season. Feature races include the Christchurch Casino New Zealand Trotting Cup, NRM Sires Stakes, Woodlands NZ Free-for-all, Heller Smallgoods, Nevele-R New Zealand Oaks.

On the second Tuesday in November, Canterbury comes alive with the colour and thrill of Cup Day. Members of the New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club enjoy exclusive use of the glassed in viewing area of Silks Lounge - plus access to the Christian Cullen Lounge. For an investment of $250, three people can enjoy membership benefits, not only on Cup Day, but also for Show Day and the whole of the harness racing season.
