Addington Cup Week Rankings as at 10 October 2017
Once again there was more action in the Haras des Trotteurs Dominion Rankings than there was in its pacing counterpart. The already highly ranked Bordeaux confirmed his Dominion spot with a gritty win in the Canterbury Park Trotting Cup last week at Addington. That same race also saw several of the placed runners rewarded with ranking improvements. Great Things Happen who was a storming second moves up to ninth. Arya who was solid yet again last week, in fourth, is now 16th and Doctor Bones was rewarded for his solid showing moving up to 22nd in the rankings. Tornado Valley nudged up one placing also.
The win of The Foot Tapper in the night’s intermediate trot saw him improve to 31st. BD Love who ran second in the same race jumped off the bottom of the rankings to 36th. My Tribeca (AUS), who ran 3rd in Melbourne last week improved marginally to 32nd.
After the running of the Canterbury Classic there were few changes in the Christchurch Casino NZ Trotting Cup Rankings. Seel The Deal snuck up a couple of spots by virtue of his fourth. While Robbie Burns’ win in an earlier race on the night moved him up four spots to the brink of a Cup start (16th). Alta Orlando and Imola essentially swapped places after the former beat the latter last Friday night at Addington.
By comparison to this week there is likely to be much more change in the ‘Cup’ rankings next week. The Holmes DG in Auckland includes five NZ Cup aspirants. The Methven Cup on Sunday has attracted very solid nominations and Saturday’s Victoria Cup could have an influence also.
