The New Zealand Metropolitan Trotting Club has set out a long-term vision for its 24-hectare Addington Raceway site that would secure the future of racing while opening parts of the property to housing, commercial and hospitality development, community facilities and new public spaces.
Racing will remain at Addington. The Club’s aim is to make better use of its strategically located land to generate sustainable revenue that can be reinvested in racing, events and its facilities.
The conceptual vision also considers improved transport connections and how the wider Addington precinct could evolve, including the adjoining Council-owned Apollo Projects Stadium site if that land is eventually declared surplus.
The next formal step is expected to be the lodgement of a private plan change in late September, seeking changes to the zoning of parts of the Raceway site.
